PROJECT
"INTEGRATION'S SUITCASE" FOR THE CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Summary
Most of the researches of integration of the children with special needs in the educational system of Latvia show that one of the main reasons that precludes integration is insufficient specific preparedness of teachers. School practice shows that integrated children are more successful in social integration, but educational results are not sufficient. The goal of the Project: is to introduce teachers with cognitions of the Norwegian pedagogue Magnus Nyborg and to develop skills what are needed to put into practice the pedagogical module of the concepts' learning, working with primary age children with special needs. To increase efficiency of the implementation of new methods, mentors will be prepared for the project schools to support and help teachers in the integration process. The aims of the Project will be summed up into "integration's suitcase" - there will be collected new knowledge and skills for teachers and educational materials for children with special needs. The impact of the Project will be increasing of the number of children with special needs integrated in the schools involved in the Project and other mainstream schools of four regions.
The main activities of the Project: seminars, workshops, consultations, collection of the examples of good practice, publishing of the book, conference. The main seminar and workshop of the Project will be leaded by an expert from Norway, Gunvor Sonnesyn, who uses Nyborgs's methodology in her practical work with children with special needs and leads trainings on this topic in her country and other European countries.
